Is there a fix for snow getting into the airbox on an '07.5 LMM? It's the pits when you go wheeling in the snow and the truck goes into limp mode cause snow got into the intake.

I'm not sure there is too much you can do.  Duramaxes have always pulled so much air from the fender, it kinda tricky.  Even the aftermarket systems do this, if the snow is light and fluffy like we had lately there isn't much you can do.

I have heard about a few guys drilling some holes in the cover on the factory boxes.  The LMM has a round filter housing, so a couple holes in the cover would draw a little bit of warm air from under the hood....might help with the snow.  Haven't heard much feedback on the idea though to see if it's worthwhile.... Huh

That is what we do on our company LMM's. Seems to be a bit better then nothing at all but after a while the filter gets a bit wet/froze. I read somewhere about a guy ripping the tube out of the fender? Not sure at all about it but I read it.

Well there's a way I think to fix it, a snorkle kit but I don't want to drill a hole in my fender just to stop snow.

No drilling in your fender, you drill out some holes in the top of the airbox lid so that it draws warm air from under the hood. That would be the very last thing I tried though if nothing else works.

well what i did with my LBZ was actually modify the stock box, the part in front with all the fins gets cut out, pretty simple mod, PPE has a write up for it on their site

Have you ever heard of LBZ's getting snow in the filter or just the LMM?

Out of all our Dmax's (35 ish) the only ones that I know of that have ever got the reduced power because of snowy conditions is the LMM. Thats not to say the others don't suck snow though. I have had to scoop the snow out from around my filter at a gas station in super bad blowing conditions, after a couple hours of driving in it, no codes or nothing thankfully. Also Im running an Airaid intake so that may be at fault.

thats kinda what i thought, the darn LMM sucks snow from the fenderwell in front of the tire, so when your runnin through heavy snow it blows up in that hole and directly into the filter, im wondering if just opening it up so that its pulling more air from behind the headlight instead of the fender if that would help? its just a poor design for cold snowy conditions

Not sure on the Dmax's because I reference them all to MPL but on the New Fords we put a Sock on the S&B filter and then a second sock on the actual intake in the fender it seems to work really well to knock snow and snow dust out.
